1. FC Köln tie home-grown child Olesen: “Result of good scouting and good training”

In professional training since December

1. FC Köln has extended the contract with Mathias Olesen. As the Bundesliga club announced on Friday, the midfielder signed a new working paper until June 30, 2024.

“Mathias’ development is a very good example of our promotion of young talent. It’s the result of good scouting, good training and a young player who brings talent and discipline. In the last few months he has integrated easily with the pros and it is fun to develop and promote him. We’re looking forward to continuing along this path with him,” said sporting director Jörg Jakobs.

This season, the 20-year-old Luxembourg international made 20 appearances for the U21s. He has been training in the professional team since December 2021. “The prospects at FC are right for me. Since I came here, I’ve been able to gradually work my way up to the professional level. That was always my goal. In the next step, I would like to establish myself in this area and I see an opportunity here to make the leap into the Bundesliga,” said Olesen.
