The 1. FC Köln officially confirmed the commitment of Tom Krauss after the transfer of Jakub Kaminski on Friday. The midfielder initially comes from 1st FSV Mainz 05 by loan until the end of the season, after which there is a purchase option. According to media reports, this becomes the relegation and a certain number of missions to be kept for purchase and is between 3.5 million and 4 million euros.
“Tom came up to us with the desire to switch to Cologne. It is important to him that he will find a sporting home after the two borrowings of the past season and can come to rest – with this loan contract with a purchase option, good conditions have been created. We wish Tom all the best and good luck with FC,” confirmed sports director Niko Bungert the probably long -term departure from the zero fifths.
In Mainz, Krauss had never really arrived for 5 million euros 2023 after his transfer and was first awarded to Luton Town and then to VfL Bochum to England last year. Overall, the U21 international comes to Cologne with the experience of 76 Bundesliga games, and its market value is EUR 4 million. For the Bundesliga promoted, it is the fourth newcomer to Kaminski, striker Ragnar Ache (Kaiserslautern) and midfielder ísak Jóhannesson (Fortuna Düsseldorf).
“Thomas Kessler and the trainer gave me a good feeling from the start. And of course something like that is important. And of course the club, the city, the city – and many friends who live here in the area. That’s why I quickly knew that I really wanted to do that. Now I look forward to starting the team on Monday, and I have a brutal pleasure in the next season,” said Krauss.
