Does he stay or does he go? There has been transfer speculation surrounding Said El Mala from 1. FC Köln for weeks. A former Effzeh professional has clear advice for the youngster.
Simon Terodde advises El Mala to change in the summer, as the TV expert made clear in an interview with “Sky”. The left winger has a long-term contract with 1. FC Köln until 2030. There is no exit clause. Terodde is still of the opinion that a transfer could ultimately help all parties.
“If you have 50 million [Euro] plus you get for this player and El Mala can then take a step into a better team and sign a high-paying contract, then both sides are satisfied,” argued the record goalscorer in the 2nd Bundesliga.
And further: “I think that would be the right way because the pressure on El Mala is increasing. We’ve already noticed that in the last few weeks. It’s good for a player like that to change clubs. The club would get a high fee, then both sides would be happy.”
Will El Mala stay at 1. FC Köln?
Brighton & Hove Albion in particular have been said to be very interested in El Mala in recent weeks. But as the “Express” and “Sky” recently reported in agreement, the sixth-placed team in the Premier League has withdrawn from poker, the reason for which is said to be different price expectations.
“Sport Bild” has already outlined a scenario for staying beyond the summer.
El Mala started this season at 1. FC Köln. With eleven goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances, the 19-year-old is the promoted team’s top goalscorer.
El Mala is now a seven-time U21 national player. It cannot be ruled out that the left winger will jump on the World Cup bandwagon. The Cologne native was able to get a taste of training under national coach Julian Nagelsmann.
