Aaron Opoku had been considered a possible winter sales candidate at 1. FC Kaiserslautern for some time. According to recent media reports, a farewell to the winger, who moved from HSV to Betzenberg in 2022, is getting closer and closer. The rumors about a move to the MLS are particularly hot.

1. FC Kaiserslautern put almost 200,000 euros on the table in the summer of 2022 to sign Aaron Opoku from Hamburger SV. Since then, the 25-year-old has made 56 competitive appearances for the Red Devils. If you believe the latest media reports, then there probably won’t be too many more.

Because according to “Sky” transfer insider Florian Plettenberg, the offensive player has agreed on a move with MLS club St. Louis City SC. A farewell to Opuku, whose contract in the Palatinate expires in the summer, is imminent. However, it is still unclear whether the clubs can agree on a transfer fee for the winger.

1. FC Kaiserslautern has an Opoku offer

According to Plettenberg, an initial offer for Opoku has already been received from 1. FC Kaiserslautern. This should provide for a transfer fee of around 250 to 350,000 euros. However, a decision as to whether this offer will be accepted is still pending. If the FCK doesn’t accept, the former German U20 international will probably move across the pond in the summer.

Aaron Opoku is one of the top performers at 1. FC Kaiserslautern this season. Especially at the beginning of the season, the fast left winger made a good impression with six goals in the first seven competitive games. But then the Hamburg native was slowed down by an injury to his adductors.

Since then, Opoku has had to take a back seat on the Betzenberg. A flu-like infection also meant that the former Osnabrück player had to sit out the last two games.
