Nils Eekhoff has a jaw fracture and a broken tooth in the third stage of the Alula Tour. His team Team Picnic PostNL reports this on the website. In the Netherlands it will be considered whether an operation is necessary.
Eekhoff had to divert in the last kilometers for another rider who fell and ended up on a raised curb. No longer able to get out of his click pedal, he then went down. The 27-year-old cyclist UI Rijsenhout had to be transported to the hospital.
“He broke a tooth and suffered a jaw fracture,” says team doctor Camiel Aldershof. “For now he has been fired by the local hospital, but as soon as he is back in the Netherlands we will conduct further investigations with our specialists to determine whether an operation is needed.”
