The two strongest handball teams in the women’s premier league faced each other tonight in Venlo. Reigning national champion Venlo treated VOC to a defeat in a direct confrontation: 30-23. It was only the second defeat for Rachel de Haze’s women, who beat Venlo earlier this season in sports hall Elzenhagen in Amsterdam. Due to the victory, the Limburgers almost certainly close the regular season as number one, giving them home advantage. VOC is number two. SEW, VELO, Volendam and V&L also qualified for the champion group.
