In the 2021/22 season, AZ was eliminated by Bodø/Glimt in the Conference League. The Alkmaarders skipped the intermediate round and met the Norwegian team in the knockout phase. In the away match, AZ lost 2-1 in the final phase due to an easily given penalty kick. At home, the team of then coach Pascal Jansen did not get further than a 2-2 draw. Over two games, AZ lost 3-2 to Bodø/Glimt.
Bodø/Glimt has not yet played any official matches this calendar year. The meeting with Ajax is only the first serious test for Kjetil Knutsen’s team. The Norwegian competition only starts in April and continues until early December. Last season Bodø/Glimt became Norwegian champions with a nine-point lead over SK Brann.
