“We are in discussions to first get the match scheduled,” Frank van Mosselveld, general manager of FC Groningen, told ESPN. “Ajax and the municipality of Amsterdam are leading in this. It is clear that we are linking the match to next Friday (Excelsior away, ed.). We as Groningen should not suffer from this.”
“Playing on Monday is certainly not acceptable, we have already indicated that,” Van Mossel continues. “Playing on Tuesday is also not ideal, but we have to catch up on this match and we know Ajax’s programme. So Tuesday at the earliest, but preferably Wednesday. Then you will be in trouble again with the program. It is now up to the KNVB to give substance to that.”
