A 46-year-old man from Zaandam has been arrested by the police for maintaining a large child pornography network. He was responsible for the technical maintenance of several child pornography sites, and maintained a site for chatting about sex with children.

The Police Team Combating Child Pornography and Child Sex Tourism (TBKK) received information about the man from America, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) reported.

The suspect had taken several ‘security measures’ to avoid the police. The images and sites were so secured that it was hardly possible to determine that the man was holding them in the air.

In order to find out who the man was, the judge ruled that the TBKK and the public prosecutor were allowed to hack the man. This allowed him to be unmasked. He was arrested in Zaandam on 13 July.

“Suspects like this, who played an important role in an international child pornography forum, are therefore not untouchable,” according to the Public Prosecution Service.
