Women’s European Championship: Portugal-Switzerland 2-2 – La Gazzetta dello Sport

The first draw came in the fifth game of the women’s European Championship. In the first match of Group C, in Wigan & Leigh, Portugal-Switzerland ended 2-2. Two games in one, with the Swiss – opponents of Italy in the qualifying round for the World Cup and beaten 1-0 in Thun in April – two goals ahead after five minutes.

The advantage was signed by Coumba Sow (Senegalese father, Dutch mother, cousin of the Sow of Eintracht Frankfurt and of the men’s national team), while the doubling was of the defender Kiwic, headed on a free kick by Ramona Bachmann (Psg), the player for best known detachment among those available to Nils Nielsen.

In the second half the angry and quality reaction of Portugal, rescued from the European Championship instead of Russia excluded: Diana Gomes has shortened the distance on the developments of a corner kick (header saved by Thalmann, good tap in with the knee ), then came the equal of Jessica Silva, who on Amado’s cross anticipated Calligaris and put the ball into the goal. Portuguese domination, but both could have won: Reuteler’s crossroads for Switzerland, Encarnaçao’s pole for Portugal. At 21 the Netherlands-Sweden is played.
