Without a chance AZ creates nothing and loses top match to Feyenoord

AZ lost the away match against Feyenoord 1-0. The Alkmaarders played a hopeless game and were unable to create anything. The Rotterdam team dominated from the first minute and were the rightful winner of the Eredivisie top match.

Feyenoord started the match well. In the second minute, Quinten Timber shot onto the post via the hands of AZ keeper Matthew Ryan. About twenty minutes later it was the same Timber who managed to score. The midfielder scored beautifully from about twenty meters.

Slap AZ

The Alkmaarders had a very difficult time in the first half and were powerless offensively. As the first half progressed, the Rotterdam storm subsided, but AZ did nothing in return. The North Hollanders did not get further than a weak shot from Vangelis Pavlidis. Every time AZ could get out, they were bluffed by Feyenoord.

Feyenoord also started well in the second half. Ryan managed to make a good save on Timber’s effort. AZ continued to lag behind and could not make a stand against the Rotterdam team.

In the 68th minute, Bruno Martins Indi managed to cancel out a great chance from Calvin Stengs with an ultimate effort. With fifteen minutes to go, Timber hit the crossbar and a second Rotterdam goal hung in the air. It didn’t get that far and so it remained 1-0 for Feyenoord.

AZ setup: Ryan; Sugawara, Bazoer, Martins Indi (C), Møller Wolfe (Kasius/75); Mijnans (Poku/55), D. de Wit, Clasie; Sadiq (Goudmijn/55), Pavlidis, Van Bommel (Van Brederode/55).
