Concern among local residents and the political party Hart voor Medemblik, but also the provincial party JA21 wonders what will happen to the location on the Balkweiterhoek in Zwaagdijk-West. The province, owner of the land, is investigating whether it could possibly serve as a reception location for status holders and emergency seekers. And last week the greenhouse complex was suddenly demolished. Chance?
The county says yes. A provincial spokesperson informed NH Nieuws that the greenhouse complex was about to collapse and was a danger to the environment. That is why it had been planned to be demolished for some time, although the province understands that it may come across differently for local residents who think: one and one equals two.
Urgent debate requested
According to the spokesperson, nothing is concrete yet. “The investigation is still ongoing.” But the provincial faction of JA21 is not satisfied with that, and has requested an emergency debate for Monday. The party wants clarity as to why local residents, but also the Provincial Council, were not informed earlier about the exact locations being investigated and the demolition of the greenhouses.
YES21 asked states questions before to the province or who plans to accommodate status holders in provincial real estate. The answer was that the province is prepared to investigate whether their real estate is suitable for this. Locations in Hoorn, Medemblik, Heemskerk and Haarlem are promising.
Specific locations were not discussed, but that consultation is taking place with the relevant municipalities and that communication about this is important: “The reception of asylum seekers and/or concentrated housing of status holders has an impact on the environment and therefore raises questions local residents. Good communication with residents always has a positive effect on the support for this.”
Location called Zwaagdijk-West
Also local party Hart voor Medemblik ask the questions about state and provincial real estate in the municipality of Medemblik and whether the province intends to use it to accommodate status holders. A location did emerge in the answer: “For a feasibility study, it is currently only focusing on the location near Balkweiterhoek 76. The Zwaagdijk-West Village Council has been informed informally. Since it is not yet clear what the province wants there, It has been agreed that we will inform and keep each other informed and only come out if we can actually report something.”
Greenhouses suddenly demolished
While this was taking place behind political walls, local resident Ronald suddenly saw things happening in the yard next to him. He followed all developments from his living room. “It happened very quickly, out of the blue it was busy in our street. It was a coming and going of garbage trucks and heavy transport. Gates and signs were installed, the area was closed off. It was very restless here for 3 to 4 weeks. “
He wants to emphasize that he finds it annoying that he and the local residents have not been informed by the province. “We have nothing against asylum seekers or status holders, far from it. We are concerned with communication, which leaves much to be desired. Nothing is discussed, we feel it is just pushed through. What will happen? dark.”
If enough States members agree, the emergency debate will be held on Monday afternoon in the Provincial House in Haarlem.
