Will Smith never claims to have been a guest on his Freak Offs – Rolling Stone

In the run-up to the successful US sitcom “The Prince of Bel-Air”, actor Will Smith worked for the hip-hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. At the end of the 1980s, the two had some teenage rap success with light-hearted hits like “Parents Just Don’t Understand,” which would soon become the basis of a major Hollywood career.

Smith returned to those early days over the weekend when he brushed up on his mic skills and also debuted his new single “Tantrum” at San Diego’s Observatory North Park.

Between songs new and old, the Grammy and Oscar winner dismissed rumors that he ever took part in accused rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs’ “freak-offs.” “I wasn’t even close to that man, I didn’t go through any of that crap,” said the rapping superstar.

“Crap”

“Crap” obviously refers to the infamous Combs parties, at which various VIPs, such as Jay-Z, were present and, according to the indictment, rapes were said to have occurred.

“In the world we live in right now, it’s really hard for you to distinguish what’s real and what’s true. And I saw your memes about it,” Smith said in a TikTok clip from the San Diego show.

“Some of this stuff is funny. Really funny and I haven’t commented on it publicly yet. But one thing has to be made clear here: I have nothing to do with Puffy. So you can all stop with these memes now.”

“Don’t like baby oil.”

Once he got going, the 56-year-old added: “If someone says something like that, it’s a damn lie.” And ever the comedic entertainer, he followed up with a joke: “I don’t even like baby oil!” A gag that refers to the approximately 1,000 bottles of oil and lubricant that are stored in Combs’ homes in Los Angeles and Florida police have been secured.

Sean Combs, accused of more than 100 counts, will also spend Christmas in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after authorities rejected his release on bail for the third time. The trial is scheduled to begin in May 2025
