Will Mick Schumacher soon be driving for Audi? Insider knows about conversations

While Mick Schumacher is currently still unclear as to whether he will drive in Formula 1 in 2023, there are apparently already talks with the 23-year-old about joining another team. This has now been revealed by an insider.

It’s been official since Wednesday morning: The German car manufacturer Audi will enter into a partnership with the traditional racing team Sauber, which is currently under the name Alfa Romeo in Formula 1, from 2026. By then at the latest, the German-Swiss team will also need two drivers who will represent Audi and Sauber in the best possible way. No wonder that the name Mick Schumacher has already been mentioned in this context.

The 23-year-old son of Formula 1 record world champion Michael Schumacher is considered a promising talent and should fit in well with the Audi works team.

According to F1 insider Ralf Bach, there is actually some truth to the speculation about Schumacher’s involvement with Audi.

“The way I see it, his future lies with Audi. They want him,” said the Formula 1 reporter at “Sport1” and reported on negotiations. “I know exactly that there are talks,” said Bach, who assumes that Schumacher will be one of the two future drivers in the team that will start in the premier class in a good three and a half years.

How things will continue for Schumacher until then is still open. Former Formula 1 driver Christian Danner sees the situation of the 23-year-old relaxed despite the possible end at Haas.

Danner: Formula 1 “breaks for Schumacher not bad”

“I think a year’s break isn’t so bad for a guy like him. He’s still so young, he can easily return to his Formula 1 career afterwards,” said Danner on “Sport1”.

Another year with the US team, provided that Schumacher’s contract would actually be extended in the end, is “no picnic” despite all the joy about staying, Danner continued. The reason: “Many environmental problems” at Haas with team boss Günther Steiner and owner Gene Haas, who recently counted Schumacher publicly and put pressure on him.

“It’s an atmosphere in which it’s very, very difficult if you’re supposed to be in top form,” said the ex-F1 driver.
