Wild claim about Michael Schumacher’s accident

Michael Schumacher had a skiing accident in December 2013.

An F1 legend Michael Schumacher had a serious skiing accident in 2013.

The German fell while skiing in Meribel, France. The seven-time world champion suffered a brain injury in the accident.

Reporter of the German broadcasting company ARD Jens Gideon visited the venue and made a five-part podcast series Schumacher. History of an Icon.

Gideon traveled with Schumacher when he was still driving in the F1 series. He decided to make a podcast series because it will be 10 years since Schumacher’s accident.

– We haven’t heard anything about Michael Schumacher himself for ten years. Yes, I would like to know how he is, Gideon says in the podcast According to Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger.

Gideon talked to the local ski instructor Andréa, who was among the first at the scene of Schumacher’s accident. According to André, the racing legend didn’t do anything out of the ordinary before his fall.

André speculated that Schumacher’s skis had probably hit a rock, causing him to fall. While falling, Schumacher hit his head on a rock.

– The helmet was crushed. The camera was still on on top of the helmet, André told Gideon.

Schumacher was conscious after the crash. According to Gideon, this possibly gave the nurses the false impression that nothing serious was involved. However, Schumacher’s condition quickly deteriorated in the medical helicopter. Schumacher lost consciousness and had to be intubated for a ventilator.

Therefore, the medical helicopter landed at the hospital in the small town of Moutiers, from where it was decided to fly him to the Grenoble University Hospital, which specialized in the treatment of patients with cerebral palsy.

Gideon speculates that if Schumacher had not been conscious in Meribel, he would have been immediately put on a ventilator and flown straight to Grenoble.

– Schumacher could have been in Grenoble three minutes earlier, Gideon claims.

Schumacher’s family has kept the F1 champion’s true condition out of the public eye. Only a few and selected people have been able to visit Schumacher.

Attorney for the Schumacher family Felix Damm justified the silence legally. He thought it made sense.

– It’s about protecting privacy. We considered whether the family should release a report on Michael’s health. But the thirst for information would not have ended there, but more and more updates would have been required, Damm reasoned to LTO at the end of October.

– In principle, no one can designate as a private matter a fact that they have voluntarily disclosed to the public, Damm continued.
