It is painful for Wendy van Dijk how her TV career fizzles out. The presenter has been exchanged for Hélène Hendriks, but why is that? “She’s fake.”
Wendy van Dijk (55) will undoubtedly wonder whether it was such a good idea that she followed her husband Erland Galjaard to SBS 6 at the time. She won gold at RTL 4 with the presentation of The Voice of Holland. And now? Now the presenter is only allowed to mess around in the margins of the small channel Net5.
Hélène so much better?
Who fills Wendy’s role these days? Audience favorite Hélène Hendriks. “It sometimes almost seems as if people would like to get rid of her,” says weekly Partywhich points out that her show So You Think You Can Dance has been placed directly opposite the ratings hit Miljoenenjacht. And then of course scoring becomes difficult.
Wendy is invariably passed over for the big shows on SBS 6. “Instead, Hélène Hendriks seems to get every opportunity these days. Is Hélène really a much better presenter than Wendy, who has lately been increasingly referred to as the ‘fallen TV queen’?”
What does Victor say?
The Party asks TV critic Victor Vlam for his opinion. “You are right that that dance program has little chance, but in recent years all Wendy’s formats have flopped. Ministars, 3 Minutes Of Fame, We Want More… At a certain point you get the impression that she is no longer a ratings puller.”
He continues: “If Wendy had presented The Winner Takes It All instead of Hélène Hendriks, I think it would have attracted fewer viewers.”
Authentic
Yet Hélène also has a flop to her name with the talk show Café Hendriks & Genee. “That format with Wilfred was indeed a flop, but Hélène was even less known at the time.”
Why SBS 6 now prefers Hélène? “I think people find Hélène authentic. Wendy is a bit fake.”
Merciless.
