Welcome to the Art District

Sun-bleached colors, laid-back styles, hand-drawn artwork: Mustang’s Spring/Summer 2024 Art District collection is like a stroll through Miami’s bohemian district. Inspired by the light of the sun, warmth and the famous murals, the collection celebrates art – and the self-determined artist of life in us.

Discovering new things, trying things out, allowing breaks. Strong orange meets pale pink. Oversized to slim fit. Naturalness on coolness. The collection revives the fashion of the 2000s. In a clean and fresh version. With new key pieces such as the low rise wide leg and the oversize twill cotton jacket. Each a statement in itself. In combination, they give us all the freedom in the world. The jeans fits range from low-rise bootcuts to wide-legs and cargo styles. When it comes to washes, Rinse Washed and Bleached set the tone. Slight destruction and grinding make our jeans look as if we came straight from the studio ourselves.

The oversized theme is also reflected in jackets, which are combined with bandeau tops, cropped shirts, oversized hoodies and flowing dresses. The only rule that counts: there are no rules.

Raw cotton, paper touch, linen, jersey – the selected fabrics are reminiscent of canvas in terms of feel and structure and invite you to use prints. Colored fields, inspired by Mark Rothko, and abstract motifs underline the “Art District” theme with graphic elements. Fine lines look like brushstrokes, the colors as if they were just applied. But what would a stroll through the artist quarter be without meeting artists? Mustang met a very special artist for the Capsule Collection in March: Philipp Deins. His comic style has long caused a sensation in the techno club scene, and his graphic novel debut was not only enthusiastically celebrated in the music world. The result of the mutually inspiring collaboration: a capsule collection with comic-style prints and trendy patches.

While looking for other inspiring artists, Mustang met Elisa Klinkenberg. Former professional tennis player, now a successful artist – and life artist par excellence. When she had to end her professional career abruptly, she completely reinvented herself. In her works, she processes her tennis past, increasingly takes a position on socially relevant topics and deals with “sustainability” in art. The capsule collection, which was created together with her, will be released in May.

keyword “sustainability”. Mustang has the ambitious goal of pushing the theme further in all areas with each new collection. For the spring/summer collection, this means in concrete terms: in addition to organically certified cotton, post-consumer cotton was increasingly used. In the case of T-shirts, the use of organic cotton has increased significantly, particularly in the entry-level price range. Synthetic fibers such as polyester have only been used if they are made from recycled polyester. So that customers can consciously choose more sustainable fashion, hang tags provide transparent information about the sustainability aspects of the products. To promote the circular economy, Mustang takes back discarded clothing in its stores.
