Stonehenge is located in southern England. Every year they celebrate the longest day of the year there. Farmer Hans also wants to celebrate the solstice, but the ‘real’ Stonehenge is quite far away. So he builds his own in his pasture.
“The solstice is an important moment for farmers and I think we should celebrate that,” says farmer and forest manager Hans Tonckens from Westervelde.
It took two days to build the monument. He had to haul a lot of dead oaks for it. ,,The piles are about 5 meters high and weigh about 800 kilos each, but with a crane it is easy.”
