A landscape cemetery will open this weekend in Ulestraten. The deceased can find their eternal rest in the green cemetery.
Part of the cemetery has been set up as a Muslim cemetery. Employee Bakaedin Ahrazem thinks it is important that people can commemorate their loved ones at the new cemetery. “I wish the families to come and visit their loved ones at all times. I know how important that is with my father.”
Airport
There is one drawback. The airport is located right next to Maastricht Aachen Airport. “We have long periods of silence, but when planes take off and land we have some noise,” says Annemieke Schutte of Walpot.
Future resting place
Desiree Bekkers from Meerssen has already found her future resting place, under the trees. “I’ve always had a thing for forests. It seems like the ultimate place. I can find my peace here.”
