The 25-year-old attacker came to the Fuggerstadt team last summer in exchange for Michael Gregoritsch from SC Freiburg. With 16 goals in 35 competitive games, he is one of the top scorers in Enrico Maassen’s team.
Trained at HSV and RB Leipzig, Demirovic can look back on experience from four European professional leagues. In the course of the past season, he had increased his market value to the previous high of 12 million euros from 2021. The sporting leadership of the Lower Saxony around Marcel Schäfer is convinced of Demirovic as a suitable option for VfL, writes the newspaper.

The transfer, however, should be the sticking point in his case. The contract of the legal footer is dated until 2026, according to reports, the FCA is not willing to let the offensive power go prematurely for a sum at market value level – an interested party would have to dig much deeper into their pockets for an official offer. In addition, Demirovic said in July when asked about a rumored interest from Eintracht Frankfurt: “I didn’t waste any thought on a change. I’m here at FCA, I feel good here. The fact that Frankfurt might be interested is recognition of their own achievements. But I’m not thinking of a change.”
VfL Wolfsburg: At van Hooijdonk, the first offer was rejected
A costly transfer was not planned in Wolfsburg recently. “Wolves” coach Niko Kovac is striving for a further, but much cheaper reinforcement, is to be heard from those close to the club. The club has invested around 72 million euros in seven new signings in the current transfer summer (at a glance), a loan deal is preferred shortly before the window closes, but a permanent purchase for a small fee cannot be categorically ruled out.
Against this background, it seems rather unrealistic to find common ground in Demirovic and FC Augsburg in the short term, especially since Bayern would hardly have time to adequately replace one of their top players in the final meters.
Sydney van Hooijdonk from FC Bologna is still the favorite for the last Wolfsburg place in the center of the attack. Here, too, the Bundesliga club from the “Autostadt” should not be able to avoid a transfer: A loan should not be an option for the 1.90 meter giant, according to reports from Italy, the Serie A club is asking at least 10 million euros for it up the Dutchman. VfL turned down an initial offer of EUR 4 million.
