The soccer players of the German U20 national team saved their chance to reach the quarter-finals at the World Cup in Costa Rica.
After the 0-1 draw against Colombia, coach Kathrin Peter’s players won 3-0 (0-0) against New Zealand in Alajuela. Leverkusen’s Clara Fröhlich (58′), Sophie Weidauer (64′, penalty) from Turbine Potsdam and Gia Corley (90’+4/TSG Hoffenheim) scored the goals.
In the last game of Group B, the DFB team meets Mexico next Wednesday. “We first had to come to terms with the defeat against Colombia, but we have now learned our lessons,” emphasized Peter before the game against New Zealand.
