Three explosions in ten days: mayor of Den Bosch is deploying extra supervision

Mayor Jack Mikkers of Den Bosch has deployed extra surveillance for the coming days in the area where an explosive went off last night. He reports this in a letter to local residents. It is the third explosive in ten days in Den Bosch.

On the Zircon in Den Bosch, an explosive went off at the front door of a house in the night from Friday to Saturday. The police also found six bullet casings at the house.

The front door of the house has been destroyed, there is glass damage at a house nearby and two cars were damaged. No one was injured.

“I can imagine that you are shocked by this radical event. Everyone wants to be able to live and work safely,” Mikkers writes in his letter. The police and city surveillance will patrol the area in the coming days. Housing corporation Zayaz, social work Farent, police and municipality are working together and provide aftercare for local residents.

Last Friday, an explosive went off at the front door of an apartment on Kapelaan Koopmansplein. Extra patrols are already being carried out in that area, a spokesman for the municipality said.

The mayor says in the letter that extensive research is being done into the explosion at the house on the Zircon, just like the two other explosions that have taken place elsewhere in Den Bosch in recent days.

The resident of the house on the Zircon told Omroep Brabant earlier on Saturday that he was shocked by the explosion. He says he has no idea why his house was targeted.

“If I knew who did this, I would go straight to the police. But I really don’t know. I’ve never seen a police station inside in the 43 years I’ve lived here. I don’t have a fight either.”
