This is what the Rokkeveen shopping center will look like after the renovation

Visitors, shopkeepers and residents will have to bite their teeth for a while, but then the work in the Rokkeveen shopping center will be really finished.

The renovation work in the shopping center has started in mid-June. The tile floor will be replaced and the shopping area will be given a fresher look.

Patience has been tested

The patience of local residents, shopkeepers and visitors has been put to the test in recent weeks. The demolition work created a lot of dust and noise in the indoor shopping center. Supermarkets Albert Heijn and Jumbo and other shops were only accessible from the outside due to closures. The entrances to shops and the wings were covered with plastic sheeting, and the work could be heard early in the morning. But, all this for one goal: to give the shopping center a new look in the shortest possible time.

These are the innovations

The Verspassage has already been renovated before. To make it a whole, the other corridors are also being renovated. Tilers have been laying the new tile floor for over a week. This will mainly consist of light tiles in combination with some other shades (see photo below). This gives the shopping center a lighter appearance. There will also be more wood in the interior.

In addition, the lighting will be improved and there will be extra spots. The seats will be replaced by new benches that will be placed on the central square. The terrace of Bakker Jongerius will also be placed there. It is not yet fully known what the seating areas will look like.

If the work goes according to plan, the tilers will be ready by the middle of next week.
