‘This is boomer of the worst kind’

Broadcaster MAX DJ Erik de Zwart is under heavy fire for a comment he made about a climate activist. “This is a boomer of the nastiest kind,” says someone.

Broadcaster MAX DJ Erik de Zwart (65) has finished Twitter posted a photo of a climate activist writing ‘stop fossil subsidies’ on the wall of an overpass with a spray can. “And who is going to clean up this pollution? #destruction #drammers #graffiti”, the radio maker writes.

Nasty boomer

Erik thinks this should be banned. “These are environmental polluters. All graffiti is applied with oil paint under gas pressure. That costs society millions a year to clean up again. Perhaps the House of Representatives should adopt some regulations for that.”

However, it appears that chalk spray was used here, which is environmentally friendly and only temporary in nature. Erik therefore arouses annoyance among sympathizers of the climate fighters. “This is a boomer of the worst kind. Chalk, cute, that dissolves in the rain,” says one Marion, for example.

Face facts

Toos is completely annoyed with Erik. “It’s chalk spray and easy to remove. But don’t talk any further about the consequences of fossil subsidies, mind you. This is meant for people like you, so that you are confronted with the facts.”

And Gaz: “Jeez, someone sprayed something with a spray can. Oh doom and gloom, the environment is dying. Broadcasting MAX boomer! Only sour boomers are members of Omroep MAX.”

“Don’t be Eric!”

PvdA politician Richard van de Burgt thinks it is a bad thing. “If you can’t or don’t want to see the bigger picture… then you worry about trivialities and stick your head in the sand. Think and worry about things that matter, don’t be like Erik.”

Hans Laroes, former boss of the NOS: “Boom alert.”

Merel is furious: “How this once popular picture talker has become an unbelievable moron. Tweeting about polluting graffiti, ignoring the message. It will take its time.”

Eric responds

Eric sticks to his position. He says: “I am disturbed by all the graffiti. It is much more environmentally unfriendly than many people think. Cleaning costs a lot of money and only produces a mess. And this is certainly not chalk.”

One Rosanne: “Google is your best friend. So do a google search for ‘chalk spray’. Good luck!”
