Today it will be quiet again at Emmen station. Due to the strikes in regional transport, no trains are running between Emmen and Zwolle today.

There have been various actions in regional transport since the autumn. In Drenthe, those strikes mainly affected bus transport. But the Emmen-Zwolle railway line, the so-called Vechtdal line, also falls under regional transport.

For today, an action announced by trade unions VVMC and FNV is very specific for this railway line. Carrier Arriva says that no further strikes have been announced, so the rest of the regional transport is expected to run. The same applies to bus transport.

There will be a three-day strike in regional transport this week. On Tuesday and yesterday, this also had consequences for train passengers between Emmen and Zwolle. Train traffic there came to a standstill on Tuesday afternoon and yesterday, according to Arriva, it was not possible to start the line due to a shortage of personnel.

Trade unions and employers in regional transport cannot agree on a new collective labor agreement. The unions are demanding, among other things, a wage increase of almost seventeen percent over a year and a wage increase of fourteen percent spread over eighteen months. There will be more actions in regional transport in the coming period. A total of 15 days of strikes have been announced in six weeks.
