The government should limit the time children spend on their phones | Proposition of the week Het Westerkwartier

China plans to limit the time children and teens spend on their phones. In this way, the government is trying to combat internet addiction among children.

The plan means that boys and girls under the age of eight are not allowed to use their phones for more than 40 minutes a day. Eight to sixteen year olds get one hour of screen time. Teenagers aged seventeen and eighteen are given two hours a day. In addition, the government does not want children to be on their phones between ten in the evening and six in the morning, with the exception of certain education and emergency services. Apps are automatically closed once the time set by the parents has passed.

More and more children in China are becoming addicted to the internet. In addition, myopia is a growing problem in China. Experts link this to too little exposure to sunlight and too much screen time.
