Henri Nikkanen’s NHL contract is going to be terminated.

The NHL club Winnipeg Jets has appointed the cool Henri Nikkanen as a forward unconditional waivers -list and plans to terminate the Finnish player’s contract. The respected sports journalist Elliotte Friedman tells about it in the message service X.
Nikkanen, 23, joined the Jets’ organization in the spring of 2022. Since then, he has played for the Jets’ AHL club Manitoba Moose.
Last season, Nikkanen played 57 regular season games in the AHL with an output of 7+5. This season, he sweated on the AHL ice in 13 matches, where the results were 1+3.

Nikkanen is the Jets’ fourth-round pick from the summer of 2019. The center forward moved to Canada from the Lahti Pelicans. In addition to Pelicans, he played in the SM league in the shirt of Mikkelin Jukurie.
All in all, Nikkanen has cooled off in 140 AHL regular season games. They have accumulated 13+19=32 power points. In the SM league, he has played in 143 matches and scored 16+21=37.
