The Chronic (1992) is the solo debut of NWA producer Dr. dr The record is considered by hip-hop fans to be the beginning of G-Funk. With many of the tracks directed by André Young, like Dr. Dre real name, to his former NWA colleague Eazy-E. The two had fallen out due to different ideas about the future of the rap group.
With Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Warren G and more, Dr. Dre gather a lot of talented rappers for the album. After a long-standing dispute over the distribution rights to “The Chronic” – which are now held by Universal Music – the album with the iconic cover is now being re-released on CD and vinyl.
