The best on That’s What Happened is the 1983 concert with Miles Davis in blood form ★★★★☆

Different from the previous parts in the series The Bootleg Series With previously unreleased recordings by Miles Davis, the seventh edition does not only contain live material. on the three CDs That’s What Happened 1982-1985 there are also songs that have records like Star People (1983) and You’re Under Arrest (1985) would not make it.

Miles Davis made a comeback in 1981 and was still looking for the right tone and musicians. He would book his greatest successes with covers of the pop songs Time After Time (Cindy Lauper) and Human Nature (1985), which can be heard here in other versions. Tina Turners is nice too What’s Love Got to Do With Itwhich never materialized because Davis decided to give up anyway You’re Under Arrest to make a record with only pop covers.

Other studio recordings offer a nice addition to the always underrated album Star People. But the best is the live CD with a concert from 1983 with Davis in blood form, assisted for the first time by guitarist John Scofield and with the later Rolling Stones bassist Darryl Jones in a leading role.
