The arrival of Prime Minister Mark Rutte to Today Inside gave the talk show a viewing figure record on Monday evening. According to Stichting KijkOnderzoek (SKO), just under 1.5 million people tuned in to the programme. The old record was 1.3 million viewers.
The broadcast with Rutte caused some controversy beforehand. For example, according to the program, the prime minister would have made a number of demands, such as that no angry Groningen residents, farmers or benefit parents would be in the studio. He later denied that. Rutte even called his arrival on the program “the highlight” in the campaign for the elections for Provincial Council.
It was a highlight with 1,496,000 viewers for the program of Wilfred Genee, René van der Gijp and Johan Derksen. Never before have so many people watched the talk show. The previous record of 1.3 million people was set by the broadcast in April 2022, in which Derksen ultimately made no apologies for the so-called candle riot.
Today Inside became the third most watched program of Monday. Only Van Onschatbare Waarde and the NOS Journaal of 8 p.m. were viewed better with 1,532,000 and 1,760,000 viewers respectively. EenVandaag scored 1.1 million viewers with the party leader debate, good for fifth place in the viewing figures list.
