The Swiss men’s shoe supplier Fretz Men AG is giving up. “With a realistic and responsible view of the future, the owner family has decided with a heavy heart to discontinue the production of Fretz shoes after the delivery and sale of the autumn/winter 22/23 collection,” the company announced on Tuesday.
The company cited the increasing deterioration of the general conditions as the reason for the step. “In view of the intensified competitive situation and uncertain chances of success, the market for quality shoes from Switzerland cannot be processed without significant further investments,” says a statement.
The financial situation still allows the company to “fulfill all delivery obligations for the spring/summer 22 collection and the autumn/winter 22/23 collection that has already been commissioned from our partners,” explained the shoe manufacturer. Whether at least the Fretz label will have a future is currently still open: “Various strategic options such as the granting of a brand license are currently being examined,” the company said.
