SV Sandhausen presents new coach

Tomas Oral is supposed to save the second division soccer team SV Sandhausen from relegation.

One day after the dismissal of Alois Schwartz, those responsible at the bottom of the table presented the 49-year-old Oral as their new coach on Monday.

The coach, who has looked after numerous second and third division clubs in the past, has been without a club since June 2021.

“Tomas Oral was able to convince us of his game idea in a short time,” said SVS President Jürgen Machmeier: “That’s why we’re sure we’ve found the right coach in him to quickly initiate the turnaround and thus ensure relegation.”

Oral himself is aware of “the difficulty of this task”: “But if we pull together and the team shows their true colors, we will hold the class. I’m convinced of that.”

Sandhausen only got 19 points from the previous 21 games. Most recently, the team failed to score four goals of their own, four of the five games after the winter break were lost. Next Saturday (1:00 p.m. / Sky) the basement duel at 1. FC Nürnberg is coming up.

At the club, sports director Dieter Hecking took over the coaching position after Markus Weinzierl was fired.
