The suspect of involvement in the death of 9-year-old boy Gino will be arraigned in Roermond on Tuesday.
A spokeswoman for the Public Prosecution Service in Maastricht announced this on Monday. During an arraignment, a examining magistrate determines whether the pre-trial detention of a suspect will be extended.
Kidnapping and involvement in death
In addition to involvement in the boy’s death, the 22-year-old man from Geleen, Donny M., is also suspected of kidnapping Gino. The boy was last seen on a football field in Kerkrade on Wednesday evening, where he played football with some other children. He has been missing ever since. Gino had been staying with an older sister in Kerkrade for a week, because his mother is ill in Maastricht and he could not stay there.

Quest
After his disappearance, the police sounded the alarm. Hundreds of people searched for him for days in Kerkrade and Landgraaf, where a scooter was found that looked a lot like his. At the direction of the suspect, Gino’s body was found on Saturday morning behind a burned-out house in Geleen. The suspect had been arrested shortly before.
Past cases
Documents from L1 show that the case of the missing and later killed Gino is not the first file in which the name of Donny M. (22) appears as a suspect. He was already convicted in 2017 for abusing and mistreating two boys in Sittard.

Limits
Donny M. is in restrictions, which means that he is not allowed to talk to anyone other than his lawyer. Moreover, all parties involved (police, justice and lawyer) must remain silent to the outside world.
