Tenerife missed the chances they had, especially in the final stretch of the first period and in the first half hour of the second, and Lugo tried at the last minute, but they weren’t right either and life runs out.

The Galician team, urgently because of his extreme situation, signed a good start to the game, with his offensive trident, made up of three wingers (Baena, Avilés and Sebas Moyano), without forwards. He had mobility, corners, some approximation, but he barely compromised Juan Soriano with a timid attempt by Baena.

His rival did not need much to put him in serious trouble, but Whalley responded with solvency. The offensive repertoire of Luis Miguel Ramis’ men began with a shot from Enric Gallego when the game was approaching half an hour, another far from Corredera with the left and a header from Garcés to Nacho’s center.

The Tenerife left-back not only served that cross, but also joined the attack to shake the crossbar on the brink of half-time with his less good leg, his right, in a first-rate shot from the edge after a corner that he had cleared the red and white defense

The insular team dominated even more in the second period and he did not score by a miracle: Whalley repelled a shot from Iván Romero, the post denied Sergio González the goal and Waldo missed another by centimeters. Íñigo Vélez tried to raise his team with three changes in one go, but not even with those, so, desperately, he sat down Xavi Torres, a midfielder who was in the center, to incorporate a striker, Marko Scepovic.

With Tenerife more overturned, Lugo had it in a counter that Gui Guedes wasted when opening for Javi Avilés instead of seeing the three players attacking from the left against two from the island team.

The rojiblancos, with more heart than head, tilted the field in the death throes of the clash, but they were not able to break a series that has already gone fourteen games without winning, while Tenerife also had their chance at the last minute to unbalance the balance, in which Enric Gallego and Iván Romero bothered.
