Spotify has introduced a new feature called Playlist in a Bottle that allows users to send music to their future self. The feature is reminiscent of the idea of ​​sealing a message in a bottle and throwing it into the sea: the individual music taste of the user is recorded and packed into a virtual time capsule that will remain sealed until 2024. “We know you have a few songs that reflect your mood,” Spotify said in a press release. “To celebrate the New Year, we’re launching a contemporary user experience that helps you capture the moment. The interactive in-app experience captures who you are musically now and lets you see your musical self from 2023 a year later.”

1. With a mobile device on spotify.com/playlistinabottle click.
2. Select a time capsule (bottle, jean bag, gumball machine, lunch box, teddy bear or acorn).
3. Choose songs based on different questions (e.g. “A song you’re going to kiss someone to this year”, etc.).
4. Close the musical time capsule digitally and send it off.
5. (Share the time capsule with friends.)
