In the weekly issue of the Gazzetta dello Sport on newsstands there is a great deal of space at the Grand Boucle with the Italian among the protagonists. Space also for football, tennis and the celebrations of Olimpia champion in Italian basketball
The Tour de France kicks off on Friday 1 July from Copenhagen with a 13-kilometer time trial. The ideal opportunity for the specialist Filippo Ganna to wear the first yellow jersey of this edition of the Grande Boucle. Just as he happened to Francesco Moser in 1975: “It would be fantastic”, he tells us in the interview that he opens the new issue of Sportweek, on newsstands with the Gazzetta dello Sport. “Moser has always been my idol”. Ganna got ready at high altitude, in a refuge at 2,800 meters above Macugnaga where we went to visit him: “Here I finish the work done with the team, I come to smooth the final corners. I find serenity and tranquility, which are part of the final goal. Because such peaks, such a high altitude, you can’t find them so easily… “. Damiano Caruso will also be at the Tour, whom we instead went to visit in his Ragusa. The Sicilian rider, who has so far participated in 15 great laps (“And I completed them all”, he proudly emphasizes), starts with a clear head: “I will not have the role of wingman, I will be free to play it as I think. And then, after the Tour, on holiday at EuroDisney… “.
As far as football is concerned, we went to the discovery of two young promises. The first, Federico Gatti, is already almost a certainty: he made his debut in the national team against England in the Nations League before even playing in Serie A. Juve bought him in January but left him on loan to Frosinone, where he played a great championship. After having canceled Abraham in blue, Juventus are already waiting for him as Chiellini’s heir. The second, on the other hand, has just won the Youth League with Benfica: his name is Cher Ndour, he is 19, he is Italian and has already been renamed the new Pogba. “I’m a Juventus player thanks to him and to Del Piero. I like everything about Paul, he’s my idol ”.
But it’s also time for great tennis: that’s why we tell you 10 things you don’t know about Berrettini, the finalist of the last edition of Wimbledon and fresh winner (for the second time in a row) of Queen’s. And it was time for great basketball. Sportweek celebrates Olimpia Milano’s victory with an interview with one of its leaders, Luigi Datome; and Golden State’s triumph in the NBA with an unread portrait of MVP Steph Curry. And if you want to close with a hint of yellow, read the reenactment of Mike Tyson’s infamous bite to Evander Holyfield, just 25 years ago. And you find out that he was the culprit …
