Enis Hajri should actually take care of strengthening the 1. FC Kaiserslautern squad in the coming winter transfer phase. But the sports director is probably leaving the club unexpectedly.
At the end of the year, 1. FC Kaiserslautern suffered a bitter 0-1 defeat against 1. FC Köln in the 2nd Bundesliga – and apparently also a major personnel change. After the game against the Domstädter, sports director Enis Hajri is said to have resigned from his position, as the German Press Agency reports.
The 41-year-old, who has been in office since March 2023, informed the team in the dressing room about his resignation. “Bild” had previously made the step public. An official confirmation from the club is still pending.
Hajri, whose contract ran until summer 2025, was responsible, among other things, for transfers and squad planning. He would have played a central role, especially in the upcoming winter transfer phase. It is now up to managing director Thomas Hengen to find a successor who can take on the role of link between management, the team and the coaching team around Markus beginning.
1. FC Kaiserslautern is in ninth place in the 2nd Bundesliga table at the winter break. The German champions from 1998 still have the best chance of promotion to the first league. Kaiserslautern has collected 26 points so far. Third place in the table from Hamburg only has two points more.
