Borussia Dortmund was recently accused of a promising flirt with World Cup discovery Mohammed Kudus from Ajax Amsterdam. The supposed BVB hopes could now get a sensitive damper.
Although FC Liverpool and FC Barcelona, two absolute heavyweights of European football, are said to have also kept an eye on Kudus, BVB is said to be playing poker for the 22-year-old offensive player, who still played a little bit at the World Cup in Qatar in a Ghana jersey played further into focus, have the best cards.
This was recently reported by “Sport Bild”. However, the figures that are now circulating cast doubt on this claim.
While “Sport Bild” is assuming a possible transfer fee of 20 million euros, reports the British “Sun“Ajax won’t let their offensive player go below 45 million euros. But that’s not all: According to the Spanish portal “El Nacional”, Liverpool FC should even be willing to raise this sum to 50 million euros in order to woo the Ghanaian to decide.
There is a need for action at BVB
If the reports are correct, it should be clear that BVB is out of the running. The black and yellow should hardly consider offers of this magnitude.
Especially since in Dortmund there should not only be a need for action on the offensive. According to “Sport Bild” they are also looking for two “strong full-backs” for the new season. You probably also have to compensate for the departure of Jude Bellingham. However, the Englishman should flush more than 100 million euros into the coffers if he changes.
Mohammed Kudus joined Ajax Amsterdam from Danish first division club FC Nordsjaelland in 2020, where he has mostly played as a center forward or in attacking midfield this season and has contributed 12 goals (10 goals/2 assists) in 21 competitive games. His contract in Amsterdam ends in the summer of 2025.
At the World Cup, Kudus was similarly flexible for Ghana, scoring two goals in three games.
