Hayut did just that in 2019, when he was stopped in a sports car in the Spanish city of Tarifa, reports The Times† The case, which was to be dropped, was picked up again this month, the British daily reported.
The notorious con man has been behind bars twice in the past ten years: once for fraud and once for forging a passport. There are currently fraud cases against him in Norway and Sweden, among others.
In the popular Netflix documentary The Tinder Swindler three women say they are victims of Hayut. They met him through the dating app Tinder and later transferred thousands of euros to him because he was supposedly in need. He has repeatedly denied being a scammer.
