A warehouse on Meint Veningastraat in Hoogezand burned down completely in half an hour on Tuesday. It concerns a building that was built against an apartment complex and Kadooz & Zo store.
All those present were able to leave the shed in time after the fire broke out around 5.50 pm. The fire brigade scaled up to ‘very large fire’ and fought the fire with four fire extinguishing vehicles and two cherry pickers.
A local resident, who lives five houses away, saw the fire coming from the shed behind the shop. “I’ve never seen such high flames,” he said.
Some residents had to leave their homes. The fire released a lot of smoke. An NL-alert has been sent. On Twitter, the fire service asked local residents to close windows and doors.
