– What were the beginnings of the company?
As a receptive travel agency, Seaport was born in 2007, being the only one, at that time, directed by a native Fuegian graduated from the San Juan Bosco National University based in Ushuaia. “All of us who are part of Seaport are born and raised in Ushuaia, which is not something common to find, since being from the interior and far to the south, by the way, generally, when finishing studies, they decide to migrate to more provinces. large and, after spending many years outside the province, not all return to the island. We know all of Tierra del Fuego better than anyone and we love our place as well as the work we do. We want not a single Argentine left without knowing the southernmost point of our country, including our extension in Antarctica. We want those who visit our place not to take only captured photographs or videos and leave them on a flash drive or in the cloud, but rather to leave experiences marked in their memory and to be able to relive them in each story to friends and family. We really want to be the best hosts you can have to make those who visit us feel as if they were at home away from home”, says the Maritime Agent Edelmiro Centorami, owner of the company together with the Lic. in Tourism Valeria Kinz.
In the beginning, it only provided receptive transfer and excursion services, both for national tourism and for foreign tourism, until in 2015 the idea of adding departments began with the intention of hosting the crew of cruise ships in Ushuaia. to Antarctica. “Until then we only offered transfers for boarding or disembarking. Over the years, and due to the demand of this sector, we have been expanding the number of units to respond to this demand”, says Valeria, a graduate of the San Juan Bosco National University.
– What are the services you provide today?
Seaport offers accommodation in units located in the center of Ushuaia, as well as breakfast services with options for vegans, vegetarians or dieters. We also have laundry services, work area, transfers, tours and a menu of alternative therapies such as private Yoga classes, Reiki, Reflexology and Access Bar, among others.
– What kind of tourism do you receive?
Our tourism is receptive, both national and foreign, and we have a strong presence in Antarctic tourism, between the months of October to April, and winter tourism, throughout the ski season.
– What is the projection for this year?
This summer season is developing normally, with an occupancy of 80% and an equal or higher winter is expected.
