Florida Panthers Finnish forward Anton Lundell got away with the Dallas Stars in the second period. Fortunately for the star shirts Scott Wedgewood managed to stop both of the Finn’s shots. However, he had to pay a heavy price for it.
Wedgewood fought with the puck until the end until the referee blew the whistle. Right after that, the goalkeeper took off his gloves and started holding his lower back.
Playing with back injuries doesn’t get any better, so a stretcher was fetched for the goalkeeper, with which he was taken from the rink to be treated. The Canadian keeper was pushed off the ice by seven men. The teammates went to cheer up the injured goalkeeper, who was lying motionless on a stretcher.
The Stars announced during the match that Wedgewood’s condition is not serious. He no longer participated in the match, which Dallas eventually won 6–4.
Roope Hintz finished with two goals for the Stars and Eetu Luostarinen scored one for the Floridians.
