The countries were banned from international winter sports activities after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022. Belarus has assisted Russia in the war effort.
Russia and Belarus were on the sidelines for the entire last competition season. In addition to the World Cup, the World Cup in Planica was also missed.
At the spring meeting of Fis, it was also decided to extend the longest race distance for women at the Olympics to 50 kilometers. In the past, the women’s queen’s distance has been 30 kilometers.
