Does Peter van der Vorst really think that he is not looking for a replacement for Eva Jinek or are we dealing with a secret writer here? “He’s just waiting for Matthijs!”
It is a bit strange: while Beau van Erven Dorens and Humberto Tan indicate that they no longer want to run too long seasons of their talk show, their boss Peter van der Vorst casually shouts in the media that there is no need for a successor at all for Eva Jinek. And that means more Beau and Humberto on the late evening of RTL 4.
Matthijs to RTL?
Jordi Versteegden, entertainment journalist for De Telegraaf, thinks that Peter is not completely honest. He points into one video on the newspaper site that there has already been contact between both parties. “We know that Matthijs almost closed with RTL a few years ago,” he says.
Matthijs cut that off at the last minute. “And then he stayed with his beloved NPO, but I now hear rumors that RTL would really be interested in bringing him in there.”
‘Peter not honest’
Peter van der Vorst may not be completely honest and is simply waiting for the NPO investigation into Matthijs, according to Jordi. “I sometimes think about that, because Peter van der Vorst recently said that for the time being there is no question of an extra talk show host there to replace Eva Jinek.”
He continues: “It could of course also have to do with the fact that a spot has to remain open. That he waits until the investigation is finished and then brings in Matthijs. To be honest, I would think that suits him better than Talpa.”
Decent
Matthijs will not be able to afford any missteps at RTL. “Now the question is how he will apply this in practice. That’s actually, I think, the most important thing. Will we soon see that Matthijs can behave decently again? To put it bluntly… I’m curious about that.”
SBS 6? That is not an option for Matthijs, according to Jordi. “Then you are faced with favoritism and I don’t think Matthijs can use that at the moment in his career. I don’t think he will choose Talpa now. I wouldn’t consider that a logical step.”
Denial
According to Rutger Castricum, Matthijs is as good as done with Omroep MAX. “I have spoken to Matthijs’ management and they say: ‘That is just complete nonsense. We’re not talking at all.’”
He concludes: “I also asked how he is doing now and they say that Matthijs is quite positive after that interview in the NRC. His manager says that that has done him quite a good job.”
