Rock am Ring and Rock im Park have confirmed Placebo for their line-up. On Saturday, June 4th, Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal will be performing at the Nürburgring, the day after they will be giving a concert in the public parkuzzel in Nuremberg. The London alternative rock band joins previously announced acts such as Green Day, Volbeat, Muse, Måneskin, Marteria, Beatsteaks, Casper, Scooter and Drangsal.

Placebo are back and right in the middle of the zeitgeist

For Placebo, these are not the first performances at the twin festival: the two musicians were already in the years 2006 and 2009, at that time with other permanent band members, as co-headliners on the line-up. It was only on Friday (March 25) that they released their eighth full-length album “Never Let Me Go” after a nine-year album break – the lyrics revolve around topics such as sexual fluidity, toxic relationships and, as in their early days in the mid-90s mental health.

    “Made for today’s diversity campaigns”

RS editor-in-chief Sebastian Zabel gave the new record 4 out of 5 possible stars: “This powerful sound is about depression, drugs and digital dictatorship. It’s about a latently suicidal world, but also about a ‘Beautiful James’ who is supposed to take the lyrical self by the hand – a reserved, suggestive declaration of love, a moving song. Placebo are completely unembarrassing ’90s survivors, made for today’s diversity campaigns,” he wrote in the accompanying review.
