RKC Waalwijk gave up a 0-2 lead in the match against Vitesse on Saturday evening. In the final phase, the Arnhem team came back to 2-2. Routinier and scorer of the second goal, Iliass Bel Hassani, expressed dissatisfaction afterwards: “We should have left here with three points.”
Florian Jozefzoon and Bel Hassani each scored a comfortable 0-2 score. First, Jozefzoon tipped the ball over the goalkeeper, Bel Hassani scored a free kick in the 50th minute.
After this, however, RKC fell back and Vitesse came more and more often for the goal of the Waalwijkers. This eventually resulted in the 2-2 by goals from Matus Bero and Ryan Flamingo.
Giving away the lead
It is already the second time this early season that RKC has given away a lead of two goals. That already happened against FC Utrecht earlier this month. Even then it was 2-2.
Bel Hassani told ESPN that his team was tackling Vitesse too weakly. “We let Vitesse play football, while we should really accelerate. We think after the 0-2 that we are there and hang back.”
Thirteenth place
RKC – just like Vitesse – is still waiting for the first victory of the season. It is in thirteenth place in the Eredivisie after four games.
