Residents of New Jersey and New York have already made dozens of reports of mysterious flying objects, and administrators are demanding an explanation from the White House

In New Jersey and New York, it has been a big question, online and in the streets, for weeks: what are the mysterious, drone-like objects that fly, sometimes in groups, over our homes? Residents of the American state of New York saw such a luminous object, the size of a small car, hanging in the sky for the first time on November 18. In the following weeks, dozens of concerned Americans filed reports, who remain in the dark about the objects due to a lack of clarification from national authorities.

The FBI, among others, is investigating the objects. Nevertheless, the American security service, together with the White House, emphasized in a press conference last Thursday that there is so far “no evidence” that the mysterious objects “threaten national security or come from other countries.”

‘Explosion of conspiracy theories’

The incomplete declaration has sparked further unrest among residents of a total of four eastern states. Not only are local officials demanding more explanation from the White House, the persistent reports and lack of answers on social media have also caused “a veritable explosion of conspiracy theories.” New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy wrote this on Friday a letter to US President Joe Biden.

The governor demanded an explanation from the Biden administration in the letter after he said “several unidentified drones” entered the airspace above Earle Naval Base, south of Middleton. Murphey believes that New Jersey residents “have a right to more concrete information” about where the flying objects come from. New Jersey Senator Andy Kim said Friday on X see images of a cluster of flying objects, probably above the Round Valley Reservoir, a reservoir in New Jersey.

Despite the soothing sounds from the federal government, the mayor of Belleville, a town in New Jersey, has responded CNN indicate that he has received police instructions. Police should call in explosive ordnance disposal squads as soon as downed drones are found, he said. Firefighters would also have been instructed to put on hazmat suits when coming close to an object.

Donald Trump also responded via his own social media platform Truth Social. The incoming president believes that the Biden administration should issue an explanation or shoot the objects out of the sky. Government officials have responded at CNN say that simply shooting down drones poses a danger to civilians on the ground, “especially if they have not been assessed as dangerous.” The drones are monitored remotely in other ways, they emphasize, and shooting down the objects would be a last resort.
