The researchers now conclude in a report that a small nuclear power plant is an option in Limburg. The province specifically asked to investigate whether it is possible to build these power stations between 2030 and 2035. According to the report, a mini-plant is the only realistic option at this time. After 2035 it is also possible to build a larger power station. It would then have to be built along the Maas to have a sufficient supply of cooling water. A mini power station does not need cooling water. Larger nuclear power plants, which generate much more electricity, are not an option in Limburg. The reason is that the possibilities with cooling water are limited.
