Refugees put in the spotlight at FC Emmen

About a hundred refugees were guests of FC Emmen today for a special day. The team bus took them to the stadium where all kinds of games could be played, such as ring toss, hockey and an assault course. And of course there was also football.

The special day is organized by Naoberschap FC Emmen. “We organize all kinds of projects here in the region, including with refugees. For example, we also give training twice a week at the asylum seekers’ center in Emmen and try to do our bit,” says project leader Marcel Sulmann.

The event is popular with the visitors. “We are very happy that people organize a little entertainment for us,” says one of the parents. “Kids really need days like this.” Two girls from the asylum seekers’ center are also happy with the event. “We really like it,” they say in unison.

The children cannot go on an autograph hunt because the FC Emmen players are still on holiday. “But with the people who are here, we also make it a very nice day,” says Sulmann.
