Red Cross Hospital: “Hope to be able to perform all activities again at 6 p.m.”

Due to an ICT malfunction at the Red Cross Hospital (RKZ) in Beverwijk, many activities were halted on Thursday. Sandra de Jong, spokesperson for the hospital, informs NH that the malfunction has now almost been resolved.

Several visitors to the RKZ come out relieved on Thursday afternoon. Despite the malfunction, most of them did not come to the hospital for nothing. During the outage, the RKZ said it worked ‘around the outage’. Emergency care in particular suffered from the outage, this work was temporarily taken over by hospitals in the area.

After more than eight hours there is good news: the outage seems to be largely over and the digital systems are starting to work again. According to the spokesperson for the RKZ, all work will be resumed from 6 p.m. “The systems are working properly again,” she says. “We are now working on getting the digital patient information in order.” If you have an appointment tomorrow, don’t worry. De Jong: “There is no reason to cancel care for tomorrow.”

One of the visitors who comes out is visibly recovering from his anesthesia. The malfunction occurred during his operation. “I didn’t notice it myself and they just completed the operation,” he says.
